CHARLES LECLERC’S BAD LUCK ENDS

(Reading time 4 minutes)

Charles Leclerc, born and raised in Monaco, his home Grand Prix has always been special for Leclerc, but it hasn’t been kind to him.

In 2018, in his Formula 1 debut with Sauber, Leclerc had a brake issue that forced him to retire from the race.

In 2019, driving for Ferrari, Leclerc had a tough weekend. After a qualifying strategy error that saw him start from the back, he tried to recover during the race but had an accident that forced him to retire.

In 2020, the Monaco GP was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, so Leclerc didn’t have the chance to race.

In 2021, Leclerc surprisingly secured pole position, but an accident during his last qualifying attempt damaged his car. Despite repair attempts, Ferrari discovered more damage just before the race, forcing him to retire before it even started.

In 2022, Leclerc again took pole position, but the race was marked by strategic problems from the Ferrari team. Due to a mistake in the timing of pit stops, he lost the lead and finished the race in fourth place.

In 2023, he had further problems in qualifying, receiving a penalty that made him start sixth on the grid. During the race, he couldn’t significantly improve his position, finishing in sixth place.

In the 2024 Monaco Grand Prix, Charles Leclerc finally broke his streak of bad luck at his home race. Starting from pole position, Leclerc managed to lead throughout the race despite the tense atmosphere and tire management challenges.

AND WON!
