The Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary, famously featured in Martin Scorsese’s ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’, is set to create a buzz in the auction world. This iconic vehicle, which appeared alongside Leonardo DiCaprio, is up for sale at RM Sotheby’s New York event this December.
Two Lamborghinis were used during the filming of ‘The Wolf of Wall Street’. The “Hero Car,” which DiCaprio’s character, Jordan Belfort, infamously drives under the influence of drugs, is one of them. This particular model, a 1989 Lamborghini Countach, not only stands out for its role in the film but also for its impressive condition and design. Renowned Italian automotive designer Horacio Pagani redesigned it, enhancing its speed to a top mark of 295 km/h.
This rare vehicle comes with a fascinating backstory and cinematic significance. It was preserved in its condition as seen in the film, serving as a time capsule of the 1980s and 90s Wall Street extravagance. The auction includes not just the car but also memorabilia like a Jordan Belfort costume, a director’s chair, and a clapboard signed by Scorsese, DiCaprio, and Robbie, among other items.
The “Hero Car” is estimated to fetch between $1.5 million and $2 million US. It’s a chance for enthusiasts and collectors to own a piece of Hollywood history, a symbol of cinematic luxury and excess. The sale also includes a second, nearly identical Lamborghini, used as a backup in the film. This backup car, however, only appears for a few seconds in the entire movie.
Both cars, with their unique history and connection to one of the most popular films of recent times, are now set to make history again as they go under the hammer. This auction presents an opportunity to own not just a classic luxury car but a piece of Hollywood’s glamorous and outrageous past.
